USAID Program Boosts Ethiopia’s Primary Education

The U.S. Agency for International Development launched a program to strengthen civic education of primary school students in Ethiopia. Under the program, the agency will spend USD8.9 million from 2010 to 2014 to help Ethiopian students be socially active and responsible by introducing co-curricular activities such as student elections to more than 500 schools around the country. A portion of the money will also be used to help the Ethiopian government develop materials for civic education.
