USAID promises to fund ACS-Beirut scholarships

USAID has allotted some $82,500 for scholarships to the American Community School in Beirut. Lebanon Mission Director Raouf Youssef said that the USAID “will continue to support the American Community School in 2007-2008,” and that the contribution by the donor agency “reflects America’s commitment to Lebanon and the Lebanese people.” More than 100 Lebanese students have already benefited from scholarships to ACS, which offers pupils a chance to experience an American-style education. Other American-style educational institutions in Lebanon supported by USAID include the American University of Beirut, the Lebanese American University, and the International College.
