USAID unveils new hospital facilities in Sri Lanka

The U.S. Agency for International Development inaugurated two new hospital wards and sanitary facilities in Sri Lanka. The 2004 tsunami prompted the suspension of operations in the country’s Tissamaharama hospital. “USAID is proud to have had the opportunity to improve the services provided by the Tissamaharama Base Hospital during its time of need,” said USAID mission director Rebecca Cohn. “It is a great pleasure to stand here and see the contribution that the American people and USAID have been able to make to the people of Tissamaharama and to the future success of this hospital as it responds to the new challenges that lay ahead and adjusts to its new role within the community.” (Source: US Agency for International Development Opens new Hospital Wards in Tissamaharama/Asian Tribune)
