Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has called for the rapid completion and publication of climate change forecasts and scenarios for communities likely affected by changes in sea levels. The prime minister’s call was in line with discussions ahead of the implementation of the country’s National Target Program for 2011-2015. In a meeting with the steering board of the program, Dung emphasized the importance of having a “good strategy” to guide how Vietnam addresses challenges related to climate change. He also urged all concerned sectors and communities to use their internal resources wisely while also mobilizing external financial support for climate-related projects and initiatives, Asia One News says.
