The Humanitarian Innovation Fund launched Feb. 16 its first call for proposals for innovative solutions to the challenges faced by relief organizations in effectively providing humanitarian aid.
HIF provides funding through two types of grants: small grants of up to 20,000 British pounds (USD32,224) and large grants worth as much as 150,000 British pounds. It prefers applications from consortia that can “bring together a range of actors and draw on a relevant diversity of knowledge, experience and expertise.”
The U.K. Department for International Development and the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs have contributed 1.4 million British pounds to back the fund, which is hosted by Save the Children U.K. The fund is a product of a partnership between the Enhancing Learning and Research for Humanitarian Assistance and Active Learning Network for Accountability and Performance in Humanitarian Action.
