Center for Strategic and International Studies

The Center for Strategic and International Studies has welcomed another seasoned global health expert to its ranks. Sara Allinder is bringing her decadeslong experience in U.S. global health policy to the Washington, D.C.-based think tank as deputy director and senior fellow of the institution’s Global Health Policy Center. Allinder served as policy adviser to different U.S. international health programs and engagements throughout her career, the bulk of it through the U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief, where she was involved in program management, operations, staffing and in coordinating the program’s $353 million country operational plan for 2013 to 2015 in Uganda.

Global Communities

Nancy Roman, president and CEO of Capital Area Food Bank, deemed the largest organization addressing hunger and malnutrition in the Washington, D.C. area, northern Virginia and Maryland, is joining the international nonprofit Global Communities — formerly CHF International — as part of its board of trustees. David Weiss, the organization’s president and CEO, hopes Roman’s coming on board will help improve the linkages between Global Communities’ work abroad and at home.

Asian Development Bank

The Asian Development Bank has appointed Nariman Mannapbekov as its new country director for Azerbaijan. The official has previously worked in the Central and West Asia region as senior economist for a number of the bank’s field offices, and prior to his new role, was working as principal secretariat specialist at the bank’s headquarters in Manila. The ADB’s Baku office has previously been headed by Olly Norojono, whose term ended in September 2015.
