David Malpass is the World Bank’s new president. His appointment follows a bank-long tradition of having an American leading the institution.

In his first few weeks in office, Malpass has emphasized the need for differentiation in the bank’s development approach by country. But what a number of stakeholders want to know is his stance on climate change, including bank financing for fossil fuels, and the bank’s relationship with China. The Asian giant remains one of the bank’s biggest borrowers.
