The man responsible for setting up the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank has won the vote to become its inaugural president.

The consensus vote took place during last week’s meeting of founding member representatives in Georgia. Jin Liqun, a former Asian Development Bank vice president, will begin his tenure Sept. 1.

Meanwhile, the woman who heads the secretariat of the World Humanitarian Summit is exiting the body. Dr. Jemilah Mahmood, founder of the Malaysian Medical Relief Society, has reportedly accepted a senior position at a top aid organization and will assume that role in January 2016.

Below are other major appointments in August across the international development community.
