MANILA — The Food and Agriculture Organization has elected its ninth director-general: Qu Dongyu, currently vice minister of agriculture and rural affairs of China. The new FAO chief won a majority vote of 108 out of 191 on June 23. He starts Aug. 1.


After long wait, MCC welcomes new CEO

The Millennium Challenge Corporation's long wait for a Senate-confirmed CEO is over. A bumpy few years for the agency has culminated in the appointment of Sean Cairncross as its new leader.

The Millennium Challenge Corporation officially has a new CEO. The U.S. Senate finally confirmed Sean Cairncross for the position June 18, after more than a year-long wait. He was nominated to the post twice, first in Jan. 2018 and then again in Jan. 2019.
