Who's who in #globaldev: October 2017 appointments

WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus made a number of high-level appointments this month, from his senior leadership team to those who will head WHO's newly established high-level commission on noncommunicable diseases.

World Health Organization Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus made a series of appointments this month, starting with the announcement of his senior leadership team, which won applause among the global health community for gender balance and geographic diversity.

Tedros followed up with the appointment several days later of Sania Nishtar, a fellow candidate for the WHO top post, to chair the newly established high-level commission on noncommunicable diseases. President Tabare Vasquez of Uruguay will co-chair the high-level commission.
