The Chan Zuckerberg Initiative has announced the individual who will head its efforts in the field of science: Cori Bargmann, a renowned neuroscientist currently teaching as a Torsten N. Wiesel Professor at The Rockefeller University. She starts Oct. 1.

In her upcoming role, Bargmann will be leading and overseeing the initiative’s work in advancing research aimed at finding a “cure, prevent, or manage all diseases by the end of the century.” Despite the humongous task, Bargmann will continue as a professor at Rockefeller.
