The World Bank and Asian Development Bank opened August 5 a joint liaison office in Vanuatu.

The joint office in Port Villa is both banks’ first outpost in the country. It is expected to allow the banks to provide more effective support on the ground as well as maintain close and regular dialogue with the government, civil society organizations and other development stakeholders in the country.

The office also represents the deepening relationship between the two multilateral development banks, according to a World Bank news release.
