World Bank Allots USD2.1 Billion to Pakistan

The World Bank will earmark 2.107 billion for Pakistan's development initiatives before the 2009 financial year ends, according to

. Of the sum, some USD800 million will be used to support the government's initiatives on poverty alleviation, higher education and social protection. The rest of the funds will be allocated to education, safety net, governance and health programs as well as to a trade corridor improvement scheme, which received a USD900 million financing from the Asian Development Bank.
