World Bank Earmarks Aid for Haiti's Cholera Outbreak

Some USD15 million from the World Bank’s USD479 million reconstruction support for Haiti will be made available to combat the cholera epidemic in the quake-hit nation.

The grant will support immediate care and treatment for cholera victims, as well as preventive measures against the disease, including hygiene and food handling awareness campaigns. It will also help to boost the early warning response, monitoring and medical waste management systems of the Ministry of Public Health and Population and the Haitian National Directorate of Water Supply and Sanitation.
