World Bank, Microsoft to Boost Africa ICT Sector

The World Bank and Microsoft have partnered in a new initiative to boost information and communication technology in Africa. Under the agreement, the two institutions will develop programs to support World Bank development priorities in sub-Saharan Africa. These projects aim to promote science and technology, expand ICT access for small and medium-sized businesses, develop the region’s local software economy and ICT skills, build sub-Saharan Africa’s disaster response capabilities, and improve remittance technologies in the region.
