World Bank Mulls Philippine Rural Water Credit

The Philippines hopes to secure a USD50 million loan from the World Bank to boost the Asian nation’s rural potable water supply. “Studies for the project are currently being prepared,” said Mario Quitoriano, manager of the loans and water rates evaluation department of the country’s Local Water Utilities Administration. “A World Bank mission is also being conducted to follow up the progress being made for the preparation of the project.” (“World Bank plans USD50-M loan for rural water supply systems” - Business World Online, Sept. 17, 2008)
