The World Bank is considering a new partnership strategy for Azerbaijan.
The new strategy, which will cover the 2011-2014 period, aims to enhance the country’s business environment, infrastructure and agriculture. It will also target improvements in social and community services including health, education, social protection and water supply.
Under the new strategy, the implementation of existing projects will be accelerated. The bank will also be selective in supporting new investments in areas “where there is clear Government’s demand and ownership and a strong record of institutional capacity” and rebalance activities toward more analytical work and policy dialogue, according to a release by the lender.
