World Bank to Bolster Renewable Enegy in Bangladesh

The World Bank intends to loan USD100 million to support the use of renewable energy sources in Bangladesh, specifically solar power. "Bangladesh has sought a USD100 million loan to set up a solar power plant and to explore other sources of alternative energy in the country," a World Bank official was quoted by

as saying. Meanwhile, Japan has also committed some USD440 million to back Bangladesh's power generation and bridge construction initiatives.
