Zimbabwe Back in AfDB's Good Graces?

The African Development Bank may be warming to the idea of increased aid to Zimbabwe. A senior AfDB official indicated that the bank supports recent reforms in the conflict-ridden country.

“We are happy about the new initiatives on the political front especially in the constitutional area, although there are still some divided opinions,” AfDB representative Hassan Kadir was quoted by the Herald. “People in Zimbabwe must start feeling a difference in their way of life and anticipate a rise in employment opportunities from AfDB’s full fledged financial support.”

The Herald is controlled by the ZANU-PF party of incumbent Zimbabwe President Robert Mugabe.
