At the Ways to Bridge Gender Gaps conference, World Bank president Robert Zoellick proudly pointed to six ongoing World Bank initiatives that promote gender equality. The event offered an opportunity for development leaders to press less-developed countries to promote gender equality and foster economic opportunities for women. Zoellick stressed that women deserve the same opportunities as men, and added that women empowerment have given rise to a host of economic and social benefits.
