For more than 145 years, Action for Children has never been afraid to push for the best for children. Today, more than 5,000 staff, 2,000 volunteers and 650 services directly support more than 300,000 children, young people, parents and carers across the UK.
But they need to do more – and earlier. Why? Because growing up in Britain today is challenging. Children are facing new pressures – from social media and sexualisation of childhood, to feeling pressured to grow up too quickly.
Too many are growing up without the basics – from the love and care of family to regular routines such as mealtimes. Whilst others have to overcome physical or emotional challenges that hold them back. Whilst the current situation is challenging, no child should be left without hope. They remain fixed in the position that all children have the right to a real childhood – more than just the bare essentials.
