The African Association of Agricultural Economists is a professional nonprofit association. The association serves the professional interests of agricultural and development economists in Africa and the global members. The members are actively involved in agriculture-based areas related to food security, blue economy, climate change, rural development, and policy. The members are professionals working in diverse capacities such as academia, government, the private sector, intergovernmental and international organizations. The members engage in a variety of outreach activities, aimed at promoting sustainable agricultural development in Africa.

The mission of African Association of Agricultural Economists is to enhance the skills, knowledge, and professional contributions of agricultural economists who help society solve agricultural, developmental, and food security challenges in achieving a thriving, sustainable and well-nourished continent. Founded in 2004 in Nairobi, Kenya during the first inaugural symposium, AAAE has over the years registered steady membership growth.
The primary objective of African Association of Agricultural Economists is to further the agricultural economics profession as well as develop relevant policy options that show the trade-offs of productivity and income growth, and the sustenance of the natural resource base.
