Advocacy & Visibility
Support the emergence of a strong African LGBTI movement and leadership articulating a positive narrative and a coherent response on LGBT human rights issues using national, regional and international mechanisms.
Strengthening the Community
Develop the institutional capacity of MSM & LGBT organisations; strengthen their access to and engagement with local, regional and global institutions; and enhance communication, knowledge sharing within the AMSHeR Coalition.
Knowledge and Technical Expertise
Provide technical support to national and regional organisations and agencies including policymakers, on issues of sexuality, human rights and health in relation to MSM & LGBT individuals and ensure mainstreaming of these issues in their work.
Undertake security risk assessment and planning, and coordinate response to threats against MSM/LGBT individuals, SOGI human rights defenders [HRDs] and organisations at risk.
AMSHeR uses a human rights based framework which recognises the universality of human rights and their application, regardless of race, nationality, sexuality, and gender identity.
AMSHeR's organisational activities and goals are centred around three primary programmes, each designed to create a more healthy life for MSM/LGBT individuals, free from discrimination, while building up own organisational strengths and assets.
