In order to establish state control over nuclear and radiation safety in the field of nuclear energy use and to ensure the requirements of the International Atomic Energy Agency, the Government of the Republic of Armenia 1993 The State Department of Nuclear and Radiation Safety for the Use of Atomic Energy under the Government of the Republic of Armenia (State Control of the Republic of Armenia) was established by the decision No. 573 of November 16, 2006. Government of the Republic of Armenia, 2002 By the decision of June 27, 2012, the State Control of the Republic of Armenia was reorganized into the Nuclear and Radiation Safety Inspectorate for the Use of Atomic Energy within the Ministry of Nature Protection of the Republic of Armenia.
2008 On May 20 in Armenia 's N. , President decree of the RA Nature Protection Ministry of nuclear and radiation safety state regulation department was reorganized by the government under the Nuclear Safety Regulation State Committee (the Committee) .
The task of the Committee is the state regulation of the use of nuclear energy (security of nuclear facilities, safe use of ionizing radiation sources, safe management of radioactive waste, safe transportation of nuclear and radioactive materials), protection of population and security of the population, protection of the Republic of Armenia.
During its activity, the Committee is governed by the Constitution of the Republic of Armenia, international treaties of the Republic of Armenia, the Law of the Republic of Armenia "On the Safe Use of Atomic Energy for Peaceful Purposes", other laws, the charter of the Committee and other legal acts.
