Ashuganj Power Station Company Ltd.: a government-owned public limited company and the largest power hub in Bangladesh. Its current total power generation capacity of 4 units is 5 MW. Ashuganj Power Station Company Limited (APSCL) was registered under Companies Act-3 on June 27 as part of the Bangladesh Government's power sector development and renovation program. APSCL Registration No. 1 (2027) / 20. Ashuganj Power Station complex (with assets and liabilities) was handed over to APSCL on 22 May 21 through a temporary vendor agreement signed between BPDB and APSCL. All the activities of the company are officially started from the 1st of June 26th and the overall activities of the company including the operation, conservation and development activities of the power station are made by the Managing Director, Executive Director (Engineering),
According to the Articles of Association of the company, 1.5% of the total shares are distributed among the BPDB and the remaining shares between the Finance Department, Planning Department, Power Department and Energy and Mineral Resources Division.
The power generated at this power station is supplied to the national grid and distributed to consumers across the country through the national grid. The power station is playing an important role in national economic development by generating more than 1.5% of the country's total electricity demand. Natural gas supplied by Bakhrabad Gas Distribution Company Ltd. is being used as the main fuel for this power plant. The water required for the formation and cooling of the stem is taken from the Meghna river. The bulk of the water used for cooling is released into the river through the discharge channel of the power plant. It is to be noted that during the dry season, a large amount of water from the discharge channel is used for irrigation of about 1.5 acres of Ashuganj, Sorail and Brahmanbaria.
