The period since the commemorative date of 1990, when the decision of the shareholders' meeting created a commercial bank “Ecodevelopment” and approved its Charter, became for the financial and political system of Belarus, like all countries of the former Soviet Union, a whole era.
It served as a starting point for the subsequent structural transformations that ended on November 27, 1997 with the registration of a joint Belarusian-RussianBelgazprombank OJSC, Eco-development Bank was registered by the USSR State Bank in 1990. In fact, from this moment begins the countdown of its activities. The first shareholders were the joint venture Interpribor, the company Zaptechnoekos and the EIC Effekt (later on, the composition of the shareholders changed - in the first year Belbytprom, Zhilcombank, the small company Optus, the Polyak TPIK , “Zaptechnoekos”, “Belbytsouz”). And although, in general, 49 legal entities and individuals were shareholders (in November the bank was converted from a share to shareholding) EcoRazvitiya, by the end of 1991 and the beginning of 1992 the composition of the largest of them had stabilized. This joint-stock company "VITT", Rebus Scientific-ProductionCenter, Dynamo Football Club, Rodnik Information and Cultural Center, Reforma Small Innovation Enterprise, Serviceavto Small Enterprise, Union of Entrepreneurs and Tenants of the Republic of Belarus.
In accordance with the new edition of the Charter of the Bank, the accents of its main activity shifted somewhat. In mid-1991, the bank’s management proclaimed the main course to support small businesses, assisting in the implementation of the republic’s new economic policy in the area of money circulation, lending, financing, settlements, and the improvement of monetary and credit itself. systems, increasing the stability and purchasing power of the ruble. Among these aspirations, the factor of supporting small businesses was particularly highlighted. The class of entrepreneurs, which was actively emerging in those years, was in dire need of new banking services offered by mobile financial institutions that appeared all over the country as competitors to the cumbersome and cumbersome banks of the Soviet system. Looking ahead, it should be noted that this economic strategy and focus on small and then medium-sized businesses, although somewhat changing over time, remained prevalent in the bank. And some of the current programs of Belgazprombank, developed, for example, with the help of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development,
Unfortunately, “Eco-development”, despite some ambitions, was still not destined to play any significant role in the financial world of Belarus. By the end of the third year of the bank’s existence, the decision of the meeting of its shareholders changed the name “Eco-development” to “Olimp”, and also made the corresponding changes to the Charter, according to which Olimp Bank was created in the form of an open joint-stock company.
The composition of shareholders has almost completely changed - now three out of seven members of the Bank’s Council worked as top managers of CJSC Pushe, the rest were headed by the enterprises Buzhena, Intermark, Prointex and Tanak. Personnel changes have affected not only the shareholders of Olympus, but also all of its staff. About fifty highly qualified specialists came here in 1994 from one for that time the largest private banks in the country - the Belarus Bank. Thus, a team of like-minded people was formed, which had considerable experience in financial activities in a modern, universal Belarusian credit institution.
The mission of OJSC Belgazprombank is to assist the formation and development of the middle class in the Republic of Belarus by providing client-oriented high-tech banking products and services, as well as implementing projects in the socio-cultural sphere.See more
