Brazilian Institute for Social and Economic Analysis (IBASE)
About

IBASE was founded in 1981 for the purpose of contributing to public debates around a diverse set of social issues in Brazil. IBASE seeks to build a democratic culture of rights, strengthen the associative fabric of civil society, and broaden citizen participation in policy making. IBASE has chosen to focus its applied budget work program on the analysis of the main public agency dedicated to development finance in Brazil, the Banco Nacional de Desenvolvimento Econômico e Social, or the Brazilian Development Bank (BNDES), a state corporation with a budget greater than that of the World Bank and with vast influence in development projects within Brazil and other countries in the region. The goal is to monitor the budget of a singularly relevant state corporation with regard to matters of development finance in Brazil.
