The Burmahilfe sees itself as a partner of the threatened ethnic groups of Myanmar. That is why their work is not only help, but also an intercultural dialogue. Only if they know and respect the culture of their counterpart is effective and sustainable support possible.
In this way, they always identify the real needs together with the ethnic groups in crises and work together to develop projects, which are then independently implemented by them.
Also, they only work with community based organizations (= local people for local people) on health and education projects. In the development and implementation of this is always the trauma of many concerned and considered, of course, on the cultural identities. Because good self-esteem gives hope and strength for improvement.
