What they Value:
Love: They are a supportive, uplifting network of leaders and organizations across the country committed to building beloved communities for Black men and boys to achieve their fullest potential.
Learn: They deploy a city-by-city, place-based strategy that emphasizes learning through evidence and iteration that allows them to constantly improve what they do and measure impact.
Lead: They lead their work from the intersection of movement and field building – supporting leaders on the ground while at the same time amplifying and catalyzing Black male achievement around the country
CBMA is the only organization that both supports local leaders on the ground while at the same time amplifying and catalyzing the movement for Black Male Achievement around the country. They are defining and building the future they want for today, where their brothers and sons are seen for the limitless assets they are. They measure their impact through the lens of High School Excellence.
City by City, they are preparing young black men for a lifetime of success
Through their national community of over 5200 members and 2700 organizations, , CBMA empowers and connects local leaders and organizations to share knowledge, resources, and best practices to strengthen the field of Black Male Achievement.
How They Do It:
They have identified four strategies needed to drive the movement and further strengthen the field to achieve measurable impact nationally and in select Cities:
-They increase awareness of the movement for Black Male Achievement
Create and promote strategic communications, convenings and virtual supports to grow awareness and spur engagement in the BMA field and movement
-They monitor and assess efforts of organizations across the nation working with Black men and boys
Track set of major BMA efforts and identify cities to engage with and strengthen the field
-They partner with on-the-ground leaders to strengthen their work and amplify the movement
Use results of assessment to develop an engagement and support plan to strengthen BMA building blocks while working with key leadership to establish the conditions for a High School Excellence Place Based Model
-They implement strategic initiatives in high schools to increase graduation rates
Implement and measure a coordinated set of communications, capacity strengthening and network building supports in a city that contributes to an increase in the number of college and career ready young black men.
