STEM is an inter-disciplinary professional research group registered as a society under the Karnataka Societies Registration Act, 1960. It was established as a not-for-profit organisation on September 1, 1987, at Bangalore.
Over the past 25 years, STEM has carried out more than 200 Research, Consultancy & Training assignments in a range of disciplines for a large cross-section of clients. In executing such assignments, the Society adopts a symbiotic approach involving extensive in-depth field surveys, analytical processes using state-of-the-art computer technology, participatory management techniques, and so on.
On the strength of its substantial experience in the development sector, particularly in infrastructure-related research & consultancy, STEM established the School of Management for Infrastructure and Development Studies (MINDS), at Bangalore, on July 1, 2005. Between then and 2012, the school has mentored five batches of Post Graduate Diploma in Infrastructure Management (PGDIM) and three batches of MBA (Infrastructure Management), on behalf of Karnataka’s prestigious Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU).
Following VTU’s decision to run the programme from its own premises w.e.f academic year 2012-2013, MINDS now focusses on short-term Professional Enrichment Programmes (PEPs) for in-service infrastructure personnel.
