CISA was promoted through a partnership, initiated in 2007 between the Angolan Government, the Portuguese Government and the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, which was in charge of the management of the project that led to the creation of CISA.
The objective of the CISA project was to act as a catalyst for biomedical research in Angola, contributing to the resolution of the main health problems through epidemiological and clinical research in diseases that are most prevalent or relevant to public health in Angola.
