Centro Mexicano de Derecho Ambiental (CEMDA)
The Mexican Center for Environmental Law, AC (CEMDA) is a non-governmental, apolitical and non-profit organization that has been working for the defense of the environment and natural resources for 25 years. We are one of the main organizations of the environmental civil society in Mexico whose fundamental axis of work is the strengthening, consolidation, harmonization, application and effective compliance of the current legal-environmental system.
CEMDA was founded in August 1993, in the context of the signing of the Free Trade Agreement with the United States and Canada (FTA), at the initiative of a group of Mexican lawyers interested in the development, effective application and improvement of environmental law as a means effective for the protection of the environment and natural resources of Mexico.
In CEMDA the scope of our work has been both rural and urban and of local, municipal, state, regional, national and even international scope.
Promote and defend the Right to a Healthy Environment in Mexico, with a multidisciplinary and collective approach, for the protection of people and natural heritage.
A Mexico where the right to a healthy environment is respected and guaranteed, in which people live with well-being and in harmony with nature.
