Children’s Chance International (CCI-Uganda)
Children’s Chance International (CCI-Uganda) is a non-profit making organization operating in Uganda with head office based in Lira, northern Uganda. The organization is registered both locally and nationally with Lira District Local Government Reg. No LDLG/2012/145 and National NGO Board Registration No 8477, respectively.
It was started in April 2008 with a vision to empower orphans, children, youth, women and other disadvantaged people such as persons with disabilities (PWDs) in the post conflict region of northern Uganda.
The organization was started to serve humanity and out of passion for the plight of the suffering people in northern Uganda particularly those of children, youth, women and PWDs. To realize the vision, the organization works through providing life skills training, livelihood support, and the provision of educational opportunities as a means to mitigate the impacts of conflicts, poverty and HIV/AIDS. CCI has been mandated to operate nationally though currently working in Lango Sub region in northern Uganda. It is expanding to cover the entire central northern region in Lango sub region soon. CCI-Uganda hopes to expand to other districts in the entire country.
CCI was started by people of humanity and passion after witnessing the state and level of suffering that children, women, PWDs and the youth were going through in Northern Uganda. The over 22 years of Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) insurgency in the region inflicted a lot of suffering to the community. Thousands of children and women were abducted, raped, tortured and forcefully recruited into rebel ranks where they witnessed all sorts of human rights abuses. This reduced the quality of human life in northern Uganda, where children, women, youth and adults have lost dignity and means of livelihood.See more
