Comunidad y Biodiversidad, A.C. (COBI)
Community and Biodiversity (COBI in Spanish) is a Mexican civil society organization founded in 1999 with the goal of saving marine ecosystems that are deteriorating due to unsustainable exploitation of natural resources. There are four main factors driving the degradation of marine ecosystems in Mexico.
First, the fishing sector lacks a common vision. Second, responsible fishery practices are not widely used. Third, there is little control over marine restoration. And finally, there is not enough citizen engagement or involvement in the management of marine resources.
Our four lines of work seek to address each of these factors in order to preserve the oceans and encourage the sustainable use of its resources.See more
