Concern America is an international development and refugee aid organization that works with economically impoverished communities around the world to develop long-term solutions to poverty. Building upon local knowledge and experience, Concern America trains villagers to become their own health care providers, water engineers, and artisan cooperative leaders. Since 1972, Concern America has worked in 15 countries on 4 continents, making a measurable impact in the lives of more than 2 million people. In the United States, Concern America engages groups and individuals through their Social Justice Education program and Fair Trade Craft marketplace. Mission of Concern America Concern America works to promote self-reliance among materially poor people throughout the world in a socially just and sustainable manner. They weave together the lives of caring people so that the impoverished in their world have what they need to live a decent life. Vision of Concern America They believe that the good hearts and good thinking of people working together transform lives. Because of this, they nurture communities throughout the world by supporting skilled volunteers in healthcare training, education, and appropriate technology to help people develop their own gifts and talents. They do this by fostering a spirit of cooperation and collaboration that is attentive to their health and well-being, their cultural wisdom, and their physical environment.
