Cycle Architecture + Planning
Cycle Architecture + Planning is a Brooklyn based company that provides architecture, urban design, sustainable design, and development consulting services to public agencies, individuals and businesses.
CA+P is the Architecture and Urban Research practice of Cycle Architecture, PLLC, founded in 2007. A publicly engaged firm that seeks out projects in the public interest, Cycle Architecture + Planning works with its clients and collaborating partners to create urban design and architecture for living cities and buildings. An analytically focused practice with deep roots in the expanding issue of sustainability, CA+P designs, plans, manages, and executes projects for clients large, small, and in-between with a calibrated understanding of the competing interests that characterize work in the public arena.
CA+P is first and foremost a collaborating studio that brings people of diverse backgrounds and aspirations together. While the goals for their work are common, there is room for individual expression and focused inquiry in their work. Grounded in technical architecture that is a necessary prerequisite for producing low and zero energy buildings, the practice researches, investigates, and seeks to develop easily implemented and understood solutions to complex problems. While no commercial practice chooses all of its clients, CA+P seeks out challenges and works with community groups, non-profits, businesses, and individuals to optimize developments with unusual requirements or unrealized potential.
Their clients range from small non-profits who need help with their facilities to large institutions seeking better, greener ways of doing business. They work just as easily with the church seeking to obtain a certificate of occupancy for their community center as they do with the developer seeking to find the optimum use for a parcel of land or the government agency seeking to build in a durable and efficient way. They seek out businesses and people with innovative ideas and help them to imagine facilities that correspond to their unique sensibilities.
CA+P sees human influence on the environment as the defining urban design and building issues of their time. As their understanding of the world they live in grows, they are learning that they face an unprecedented challenge. Within the next 20 years, the energy infrastructure of cities and the lifestyles of people who live in them will be reimagined. This transformational change will result in a new type of city, a built environment with different priorities, and new formal languages. See more
