Purpose
Advise the government and act in the service of an innovative and inclusive French economy, for sustainable growth, in a Europe that is more effective in the face of global challenges.
Missions
At the service of the ministers, the DG Trésor proposes and conducts, under their authority, economic policy at national, European and international level.
- Monitor the French and international economic situation and develop forecasts (growth, competitiveness, employment, etc.) for France and its environment;
- Provide analyses, avenues for reform and impact studies in the field of public finances, public expenditure, but also tax policy, social policies, employment, sectoral policies, etc.;
- Monitor European economic and financial issues , participate in related negotiations (questions relating to the euro, the functioning of the Economic and Monetary Union, monitoring of national economic policies) and maintain bilateral relations with the Member States of the European Union ;
- Develop and implement the financial sector regulatory policy with the aim of guaranteeing diversified and competitive financing of the French economy;
- Monitor multilateral trade and financial issues ;
- Deliver expertise and proposals in terms of official development assistance ;
- Support the export and internationalization of French companies and develop economic ties with all partner countries, in conjunction with state operators and regions;
- Manage the State's cash and debt through the Agence France Trésor (AFT)open_in_new;
- Provide support to public authorities and professional actors involved in the preparation of partnership contracts and leases via the Fin Infra mission ;
Organization
The DG Trésor is a department of the Ministry of Economy, Finance and Industrial and Digital Sovereignty. It brings together nearly 1,400 agents, half of them in 105 foreign countries within French embassies and representations to European and international institutions. Its teams have a wide variety of profiles (civil servants from 20 different bodies, contract workers, local jobs abroad) which make the wealth of the DG Trésor.
