The Consumers, Health and Food Executive Agency (CHAFEA) is a successor to the Executive Agency for Health and Consumers (EAHC), set up by the European Commission in 2006 to run
the Public Health Programme(from 2008) the Consumers Programme(from 2008) the Better Training for Safer Food initiative.
CHAFEA started work on 1 January 2014. Its mandate extends until 2024.

CHAFEA carries out duties assigned to it by the European Commission's Directorate-General for Health and Food Safety
It manages relations with some 2800 beneficiaries and contractors working on nearly 400 projects/service contracts in the fields of health, consumer protection and food safety. It has about 50 staff members based in Luxembourg.
