EcoVentures International (EVI)
The EVI mission is to support the growth of sustainable local economies by linking enterprise development with environmental stewardship.
EVI continually investigates the dynamic relationship between business development and environmental management to explore how these can be a source of innovation and sustainability for communities on the local and global scale. The EVI team is highly talented and experienced in designing innovative solutions rather than out-of-the-box suggestions. They tailor strategies to specific development needs and market contexts using culturally-appropriate strategies and tools.
EVI’s experience and expertise is in economic and livelihood strengthening of micro and small businesses and social entrepreneurs, for the benefit of the poor and vulnerable in communities across the globe. EVI works to stabilize and expand wage-labor and self-employment opportunities for disenfranchised, at-risk populations including: households suffering absolute or chronic poverty; marginalized women and youth; adolescent orphans and vulnerable children and their care-givers; and, people living with or affected by HIV and AIDS.
Their activities include:
-Market and value chain development research and implementation;
-Establishing business support structures and networks;
-Developing microenterprise support tools;
-Setting up and facilitating cooperative working group and industry strategy structures; and
-Researching technologies for fast-growing sustainable business opportunities.
EVI’s US-based program advances the new green economy with the same market-based principles used in our international programs.
EVI’s impact varies by the level of intervention and collaboration. Levels of intervention may include market selection and analysis, project design and implementation, and monitoring and evaluation. EVI is often asked to join a project to lead one or more of these phases. EVI also creates its own initiatives using the support of donors and grant-makers.
