About

The Maria Cecília Souto Vidigal Foundation is a family foundation which was created in 1965.

After acting for nearly 40 years in the areas of hematology and hemotherapy, the Foundation redefined its focus and is currently dedicated to the promotion of early childhood development as well.

The Foundation develops social projects in municipalities and metropolitan areas and works with particular interest on the production and dissemination of knowledge gathered from field experiences.

Its objective is to provoke changes in behavior that will promote an improvement in care given to children, providing for their full development, and consequently, the development of society as a whole.

What FMCSV does
The Maria Cecília Souto Vidigal Foundation works to promote Early Childhood Development, connecting actions which benefit small children, from conception to six years of age.

FMCSV initiatives fit into three large areas of action: building bridges, practices and knowledge management.

It establishes partnerships with the public sector, private initiatives and civil society to widen the reach and impact of the social interventions it implements and to raise of awareness on themes related to Early Childhood Development.

In the area of practices, FMCSV maintains the São Paulo pela Primeiríssima Infância Program (São Paulo for Early Childhood), implemented in municipalities and micro regions to change the attitudes and practices of professionals (who act in the areas of Health, Education and Social Assistance) on care for pregnant women and small children. The program is also aimed at supporting municipalities in the creation of Early Childhood Development policies and programs.

In the area of knowledge management, FMCSV maintains courses, promotes events and also produces extensive literature, with both original and translated publications, available in the Digital Collection.

In order to encourage knowledge production, FMCSV established a partnership with FAPESP (São Paulo Research Foundation) to promote and finance research on Early Childhood Development.
