GirlSportWorks

GirlSportWorks was founded in 2003 with the mission of teaching life skills to girls through athletics. They foster the development of self-confidence, leadership, communication and team skills, and healthy living in girls aged 9 – 16 in Cusco, Peru. GirlSportWorks teaches hundreds of students in the Cusco region through five partner schools. They connect with students through their ten-sport sports curriculum and through field trips to parks, pools, and Peruvian heritage sites. Inspired by the role of sports in their own lives, co-founders Rebecca Rauth and Sarah Smith created GirlSportWorks in 2003 as Yale College seniors and Track and Field teammates. The mission of GirlSportWorks lives on through the enthusiasm and commitment of outstanding Project Managers, who manage the program on the ground in Cusco. GirlSportWorks' mission is to teach life skills to girls through athletics. They help their students develop leadership, self-confidence, communications, team skills, and healthy living practices, allowing them to realize their physical and mental capabilities as females and as members of the community.
