Guide Dogs Association of the Blind (GDS)
Guide Dogs Singapore Ltd (GDS) was founded with the mission to help the visually impaired enhance their quality of life. To this end, they focus on providing mobility training to the blind or visually impaired, and pair suitable candidates with Guide Dogs.
Their new logo shows the close relationship between the person, a guide dog and a white cane, the two cornerstones of their programmes which allow their clients to move independently to participate in the community. The slogan “Enabling The Visually Impaired” reflects their values to provide people with visual impairment with life skills that enable them to be self-sufficient.
They are a non-profit voluntary welfare organisation, and have been accorded Charity status by the Commissioner of Charities. Furthermore, they are registered with the National Council of Social Service (NCSS) as an associate member and they hold an Institute of Public Character status.
Today, they are committed to making further inroads for Guide Dog access with building owners, food establishments and regulators, because it is their firm belief that Guide Dogs can be an even better help and companion for the visually impaired if they are better integrated into society.See more
