Handcrafted Films
About

Handcrafted Films is an independent UK based production company focusing on communicating complex contemporary issues into concise and accessible formats for distribution to both the general public and directly to government decision makers. It has experience building relationships and developing contacts with non-governmental organisations involved in ground breaking environmental and human rights issues globally. This and its relative size enable Handcrafted Films to develop these sensitive stories accurately for in-depth programming.

Formed in 2006, by Paul Redman (director & camera) and Tim Lewis (producer & sound), Handcrafted Films have worked in many different and challenging locations around the world. Whether filming indigenous forest dwelling communities or logging companies in the equatorial rainforests, ethnic Burmese refugees along the Thai-Burma Border or amongst the student activists of Amnesty UK we endeavour to document with integrity, accuracy and creativity.

Its logo is based on the signature of some of the oldest known artists, our pre-historic cave painting cousins. When they finished a work of art they would place their hand on a surface and spit red ochre to create an impression. A unique handcrafted signature that stands the test of time. We would like all our work to have the timeless quality of these early paintings. Its work should be a benchmark for what life was like in our time arranged into classic, good strong stories.
