Harmony Institute is an incubator, where people making big bets on media's social effects tackle their toughest challenges, like filter bubbles, the stickiness of "true" information, or detecting persuasion online.
The institute's team of researchers, data scientists, strategists, designers and engineers take an evidence-based approach to the projects they launch. Together with the community, they are helping people leverage media's unprecedented power to benefit society.
Today, Harmony Institute is an independent applied research lab, a multi-disciplinary team of researchers, practitioners, thinkers and doers, working across sectors, fields and institutions. They have partnered with or received funding from academic institutions, private foundations, advocacy organizations, media publishers, tech companies and others, like the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, The Ford Foundation, The Fledgling Fund, Columbia University, Free Press, MTV and the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA). Harmony Institute is a 501(c)3 based in New York City.
