HEAL Food Alliance
The Health, Environment, Agriculture and Labor (HEAL) Food Alliance is a multi-sector, multi-racial coalition building collective power to transform their food & farm system. They are led by our member-organizations, and strive to amplify the experience and expertise of frontline communities who are most burdened by the disparities of their current system. Together, they are developing solutions to drive change.
HEAL is committed to building a food and farm system that is healthy for our families, accessible and affordable for all communities, and fair to the hard-working people who grow, distribute, prepare, and serve their food — while protecting the air, water, and land they all depend on. Their work is anchored by the Food Chain Workers Alliance, Movement Strategy Center, the National Black Food & Justice Alliance, Real Food Generation, and the Union of Concerned Scientists.
What They Do
The HEAL Food Alliance builds and amplifies the power of frontline communities who are most negatively burdened by their current food system, and who are at the forefront of changing it.
Through community and translocal organizing, political campaigning, highlighting practices that support businesses that adhere to the Real Food Platform, and fighting against the abuse of workers, small farmers, consumer health, and the environment, they are bringing together food and farm justice groups to build collective power for transformative change.
For all people and all communities to have the right and the means to produce, procure, prepare, share, and eat food that’s nutritionally and culturally appropriate, free from exploitation of themselves and any other people, and to be in their full power in harmony with the rest of the natural world.
