Heart of Amman

Heart of Amman is a platform intended to allow all to take part in revitalizing Amman, by expanding local economic opportunities while creating a greener, healthier, more walkable, inclusive, and youth-friendly city for all that call Amman home. An Integrated & Smart City Renew and update a street manual with thematic walking trails (gastronomic, cultural, historic, etc..) Support in developing an integrated green and accessible mobility plan, where pedestrians own the city Set up an urban resilience research center Establish a coordination plan with service providers in the city For more than 42 years, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Jordan has served the country with its knowledge and expertise, offering financial and technical assistance to improve the lives of local communities. The UNDP Jordan Country Office works closely with the government, municipalities, and civil society to tackle the unique challenges and emerging needs of Jordan by providing long-lasting, tailored solutions that are in line with the seventeen Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations’ 2030 agenda. Heart of Amman is being implemented through the UNDP Inclusive Growth and Sustainable Livelihoods Team, who develop interventions and implement projects that target the most vulnerable communities in Jordan. The team is experienced in all aspects of sustainable development with a focus on youth empowerment and engagement, gender equality, increased employability, sustainable livelihoods, and humanitarian urban planning projects.
