Honeyguide Foundation

Above all, Honeyguide delivers results on the ground. Honeyguide have a core team of more than 50 committed individuals and support and guide more than 100 rangers and officers in six wilderness areas covering 1.3 million acres. Today the team ranges from veteran anti-poaching commanders to tech-savvy recent university graduates, from future women leaders and entrepreneurs to Maasai elders and warriors. Together all Tanzanians with a robust mission, vision, and theory of change for how the Tanzania of tomorrow can thrive with both resilient communities alongside stable wildlife populations. Honeyguide Foundation began in 2007 when several longtime friends decided to pull together a few thousand dollars or so to start up a tiny non-profit dedicated to a community vision for conservation at a time when few such organizations existed in Tanzania. It would come to be called Honeyguide, and, since then, the supporters have grown extensively since then and inspire and shape everything they do. Today they also have a rigorous and robust system for financial and program reporting so the old and new friends and supporters can keep track of Honeyguide’s every expenditure and action on the ground.
