Instituto Kaplan is a São Paulo-based organization that specializes in sexuality education.
The Kaplan Institute was born of necessity, found in the poor city of São Paulo, therapeutic treatment of sexual difficulties and health education and sexual responsibility. Founded on April 29, 1991, by a group of specialists in sexuality, the Institute began its history through SOSex, a service of sexual orientation by telephone and became an association of education and social assistance, with projects of sex education Implanted in several Brazilian states that benefited 1,133,077 people, mostly educators, health professionals and adolescents.
At the beginning of the 1990s, attention to sexuality was studied and developed by a minority of specialists; And the professionals concerned did not have a place for training in this area. Thus, the Kaplan Institute has created the possibility of training educators in the area of sexuality, besides providing assistance to the population, reconciling teaching and professional practice in meeting individual and collective difficulties related to sexuality.
Over the years, Kaplan has identified a growing demand in the area of sex education, especially with regard to STD / AIDS prevention and teenage pregnancy. Thus, in 2006, the work of psychotherapeutic care was suspended, changing the Institute's work focus on adolescent sexual education, through direct action with this population and training of multipliers and prevention agents to work with young people.See more
