The Salomé Ureña Higher Institute of Teacher Training, ISFODOSU, is the only institution in the country specialized in training education professionals.
Docents practices. The ISFODOSU Teaching Practices System is a pioneer in the country and is a reference for pedagogical universities in the Region. In 2015, the Institute became the first Institution of Higher Education in the Caribbean to receive validation of its Teaching Practices program by the Committee for Practicum and External Internships in Pontevedra, Spain. From the first year of their degree, university students participate in internships supervised by specialized tutors at study centers in the country, accumulating 1,354 hours of internship at the end of their studies.
Educational Technology . At the forefront of the requirements imposed by the evolution of societies, ISFODOSU students graduate with a diploma in educational technology with the option of international certification as a Microsoft professor. The ISFODOSU Educational Technology Diploma has 400 hours of classes and is a mandatory requirement for graduation.
English as a Second Language. During the course, students take a total of 960 hours of classes that accredit them at a B2 level and graduate with training in English as a second language, which means they can take international exams such as the Cambridge or the TOEFL variant.
Value being. Their students receive training in neuroethics through Valora Ser, a program that is developed in common agreement with Banco BHD León, which aims to promote the development of a culture based on values in the training spaces of the educational community. Likewise, to influence families from a contextualized perspective on cultural identity and cooperative learning that facilitate communication, social commitment and education for life.See more
