Mission and Vision

Mission and vision are part of every organization's strategy. They perform a communication function of the strategy itself, reinforce the identity of the organization and the identification of the individual members with it, facilitate the alignment of individual objectives and become part of the incentive system, improving its returns.

The Mission of the Institute

The mission of the IZSLER is:

"To work in favor of public health and the productive activities of the agro-food sector in respect of ethical values, with a view to the socio-economic development of the country".

The Vision that the Institute proposes

The vision that the IZSLER proposes is drawn from the whole of the research, of the technical-scientific support and of the training, which are indispensable tools for carrying out the mission. In this context they are recognized as prevalent:

• activation and strengthening of relations with the specific structures of the European Commission and international institutions such as OIE, FAO, WHO;
• activation and strengthening of the connection and communication between the competent ministerial structures, the Regional Services, the network of Zooprophylactic Institutes and consumers;
• expansion of assistance and support for productive, primary and transformation activities;
• election as a reference role for quality accreditation systems, understood both in the context of specific health and administrative competences.

The Strategies that the Institute uses

The strategies that the IZSLER identifies are:

• accreditation with international public health institutions: OIE, FAO, WHO, EFSA;
• identification of research topics in shared and shareable areas by other research institutes at national and international level;
• supervision of national and regional competences in the field of supervision and control of animal health and primary production and transformation activities for the purposes of health risk assessment, in compliance with EU and national criteria;
• supervision of regional territories in terms of supervision and control of animal health and primary production and processing activities for risk assessment purposes in compliance with Community, national and regional criteria.
